A: My name is Jaelyn, I am a rising sophomore in college, and I am the youngest of 5. I am an aspiring entrepreneur and I like to learn new things that are beneficial to me succeeding in life. My main motivation is success, wealth, and comfortability. My success is for me and the family I intend to build.

Q: How has Richmond Promise played a role in your education?

A: Richmond Promise has helped towards the financial burden of what college brings. They also briefly informed me on what to expect from certain aspects of college as well as giving me a job opportunity after finishing my first year of college.

Q: Why did you choose to be a Richmond Promise Summer Associate and what are you hoping to take from the experience?

A: I chose to be a Summer Associate because I knew it would be a space where I could work and learn while simultaneously being myself. The Richmond Promise staff have been very welcoming and laid back ever since I first came in contact with them and that is something I admire.

Q: What do you want to contribute to Richmond and/or the world?

A: I want to contribute my knowledge and creativity to the world, I want something I can trademark as my own and I want it to be beneficial, especially to the black community.

Q: Can you tell us about your current college experience?

A: College is a roller coaster, the best time of your life while simultaneously being the most stressful. College is so much fun, from the activities, to the parties, to the new people you encounter and become friends with. My first year was so much fun, as long as you prioritize everything you need to and learn time management you will have an amazing time! College is what you make it.

Q: What are you looking forward to after receiving your bachelor’s/transferring?

A: I am looking forward to entrepreneurship, learning more about investing, and building a beautiful life for me.
