Campus Network Leaders

Campus Network Leaders (CNL) represent a peer-led campus support network designed to develop a sense of community and support the college success of Richmond Scholars on college campuses through near-peer mentoring. CNLs will offer other Richmond Scholars support with navigating the challenges often associated with the transition to college life and ensuring incoming Richmond Promise Scholars are connected with the resources and knowledge on campus to make the most of their college experience.

America Leon head shot

America Leon, Contra Costa College

My name is America Leon. I am in my second year at Contra Costa College, majoring in philosophy on a pre-law track. Emphasizing the importance of written communication to ignite societal change and as a mechanism for keeping people informed about critical issues, I currently work as a community health reporter and journalist for a Bay Area news outlet called The CC Pulse. As a Richmond Promise Campus Network Leader, I am excited to help expand educational equity in my community, ensuring all students have the resources to succeed academically and achieve their career ambitions.

Judy Alexis Lopez head shot

Judy Alexis Lopez, Berkeley City College

Hi, I’m Alexis Lopez! I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the Bay Area eight years ago. I am a sophomore studying at Berkeley City College, working on completing my prerequisites to get into a sonography program in hopes of becoming a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. I am passionate about community building and fostering a supportive environment. Currently, I am an intern at BCC, where I collaborate with students from various schools in Berkeley to ensure a space is created for them to connect and network. I am eager to bring the same level of enthusiasm and support to incoming and current RP scholars in my position as this year’s CNL. Aside from that, I’m a big fan of going bakery hopping and trying out all sorts of pastries, especially cream buns! In my free time, you can catch me playing badminton.

I’m dedicated to fostering a community where every student can thrive.
