Meet Our RP Interns: Nayeli Del Mundo
The Richmond Promise Communications team is assisted in its work by the RP Marketing & Communications Intern. In this role, a current RP Scholar assists the Director of Communications in ideation and creation of external materials, particularly for use on social and digital media.
We are pleased to introduce you to our Spring 2026 intern, Nayeli Del Mundo. Nayeli began her college journey at Contra Costa College, and she is now a third-year student at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She is a 2023 graduate of El Cerrito High School.

Q: First, some basic info. Tell us your name, current school, high school you graduated from and your major (or intended field of study).
A: Hi everyone, My name is Nayeli Del Mundo. I graduated from El Cerrito High back in 2023. I then proceeded to attend Contra Costa College where I spent 2 years working to transfer to a 4 year. Now I am currently attending UC Santa Barbara as a Communication major.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about being a RP Marketing & Communications Intern and what are you hoping to get from the experience?
A: I am really looking forward to getting some marketing experience and creating my own graphic designs as I plan on going into marketing. I think this is a great opportunity for me to gain experience and also explore my creative side. As a communications major I am very excited to be able to connect what I am learning at UCSB and apply it to this internship.
Q: If you were going to give advice to a high school senior about going through the college application process, what would it be?
A: I would highly encourage high school seniors and or transfer students to attend workshops and ask lots of questions! This process is not easy but with the right resources like connecting with educators and supporters who care and starting early it can be a much less stressful process when you prepare yourself rather than leaving it all at the last minute.
Q: What’s the best part about being in college/what should a high school senior look forward to?
A: The best part of being in college is the freedom. The freedom of choosing my major, schedule and classes has given me so much motivation to learn. I get to choose what classes I’d like to take and learn about and I essentially get to make my own schedule up which really helps when having a job.
Q: Big question…what do you want to contribute to Richmond and/or the world?
A: I would love to bring light for people to see the true gem Richmond as a city is, and highlight its community and companies like Richmond Promise. Not only has RP helped myself to further my education but has helped my brother, friends and people from my own community. I would love to take this opportunity and become a resource for students who have questions about transferring to state/university after community college and share my personal experience with this process as I gain experience to pursue what I would like to do in my future career.
Q: What are you most looking forward to after college?`
A: I am honestly just excited to see where life after college takes me. I can’t wait to see where the degree I earned takes me in life and in my future career.
