The free event will commemorate 10 years of service to Richmond students and will highlight the impact that postsecondary education continues to have for the young professionals who now serve as Richmond’s present and future workforce. Richmond Promise alumni will be on hand to share their experiences, and RP’s incoming 2026 cohort will be recognized as it prepares for the upcoming school year. The event will also include free food, community resources and activities for all.

“For the last decade, Richmond Promise has worked to establish and grow a college-graduating culture in Richmond because we know that postsecondary education offers a direct pathway to economic mobility for Richmond’s next generation,” said executive director Christopher Whitmore. “We are excited to celebrate 10 years of service and collaboration with the community as we continue to create a sustainable path towards providing scholarships and services for the next decade of Richmond youth.”

With the onboarding of the 2026 cohort, Richmond Promise has awarded a total of 5,055 scholarships to Richmond youth since its founding in 2016. The organization currently serves over 1,300 students who are pursuing associate and bachelor degrees, and career technical education certifications, at over 200 colleges and universities across the United States. The majority of Richmond Promise scholars identify as people of color, first-generation college students and students from low-income backgrounds.
