Richmond Promise Americorps Summer Associates

VISTA Summer Associates will have the opportunity to contribute to building a community-driven college going & graduating culture throughout the City of Richmond by working for three high-impact organizations:

Term of Service: June 17 – August 8. This is an 8-week PAID opportunity for college students to give back to their community.

Richmond Promise Americorps VISTA Fellows

We are seeking four (4) awesome individuals who are passionate about the mission of the Richmond Promise and equitable access to higher education to join our team as Americorps VISTA Fellows. The ideal candidates for these roles believe deeply in doing whatever it takes to help our students succeed, have relentless and rigorous attention to detail, enjoy efficiency and improvement of systems, and are excited about supporting a college-going and graduating culture in Richmond, CA! They should thrive in a fast-paced and multifaceted environment, have experience and demonstrated success in balancing multiple priorities, enjoy building relationships with students and adults, and proactively solving challenges. The four roles are:

  • College Success Coordinator

  • Scholarship Operations & Data Coordinator

  • Development Associate

The College Success position is currently open.

The College Success Coordinator will support the mission of the Richmond Promise by developing systems and interventions to support Richmond Promise Scholars through degree attainment. This will include development and support of college transition programming, including College Success Workshops, developing a method of evaluating students’ needs and level of support needed (i.e. college success rubric), and the scaling of a of community-wide digital advising/mentoring initiative for Richmond Promise students.

Our partners at Beyond 12 are hiring college coaches! These coaches will work with a cohort of our students this coming year. See details from their organization below:

Beyond 12, is a technology-based service organization whose mission is to increase the number of historically underrepresented students who graduate from our nation’s colleges and universities. We are seeking passionate and talented recent college graduates to work as college coaches and provide virtual, 1:1 coaching to students who attend our partner schools and programs.

College coaches work with students virtually — phone, video chat, text messaging, email, and social media — to help them navigate the beginning of their college career and, ultimately, achieve their dream of earning a degree. Strong preference for applicants who have experience working with students from under-resourced communities and those who are the first in their families to attend college.
