The Scholarship Application

The Richmond Promise Scholarship is a up to $1,500 college scholarship, renewal up to 4 years. Students may attend a 2-year or 4-year college, and/or pursue a Career Technical Education Certificate at any not-for-profit institution in the United States.

First Time Applicants

The 2017-18 Richmond Promise Application is now open and due March 9, 2018!

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Be a Richmond or North Richmond resident (i.e. have a Richmond home address)
  • Graduate from an eligible high school within the WCCUSD boundaries or received your GED/high school equivalency between June 2017-2018
  • Have attended an eligible school 9th-12th grade consecutively
  • Complete the FAFSA or Dream Act by the March 2 Cal Grant deadline (unless not AB 540 eligible)

Scholarship Timeline:

  • October 1: FAFSA / Dream Act Opens
  • October 2: Richmond Promise Scholarship Opens
  • March 2: FAFSA / Dream Act Closes
  • March 9: – Richmond Promise Scholarship Closes
  • May: Richmond Promise Scholar Celebration
  • June/July: College Success Workshops

Summer 2018: In order to receive your scholarship, you must log into your original application and turn in/upload the following documents:

  • Scholarship Acceptance Form
  • Class Schedule/Proof of Enrollment

Returning Applicants

Richmond Promise Scholars already receiving the Richmond Promise Scholarship must renew it each year. The Returning Applicant application will open May 2018. Please check back then for details.

Remember to continue being eligible for the Richmond Promise you must:

  • Enroll full time at your college (at least 12 units)
  • Maintain good academic standing (2.0 GPA and above)
  • Participate in an academic support program (e.g. EOP, EOPS, Puente, Umoja, etc.)
  • Complete your FAFSA/Dream Act application by the March 2 Cal Grant deadline
  • Renew your Richmond Promise Scholarship each year in early summer by the renewal deadline

  • March 2: FAFSA / Dream Act Closes
  • Late May: Renewal Application Opens
  • Mid-July: Renewal Application Closes
